Guidelines

Please complete the application form in order to be considered by the Rice Access and Opportunity Portal (AOP) Committee. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Please be aware that not all requests can be funded.

  • If this will be a textbook request, please make sure to...
  • All travel requests covering the costs associated with purchasing a flight during our semester breaks must be submitted within the following time frames:
    • Domestic (within the U.S.)- minimum 4 weeks in advance
    • International (outside the U.S.)- minimum 12 weeks in advance

Process

The Rice Access and Opportunity Portal Committee will review the application for a final decision. Upon review of your application, the committee will ask you to meet with a representative to review your request and may ask you to submit supporting documentation, such as an itemized budget, quote on service and or receipts, textbook list with cost.

AOP requests will be followed up within three business days of application submission. Business days are Monday to Friday between 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. As a note, during high peak times such as the beginning of each semester, the normal response time will be delayed. (Unfortunately, AOP will not be considering or processing requests that involve reimbursements for the Spring 2023 semester.)

Emergency Requests

(Note: Emergency Fund Request is designed to address the most urgent and serious financial concerns for undergraduate students.)
